The network tube radio "Vef-Radio" has been produced by the Riga State Electrotechnical Plant "VEF" since 1965. At the beginning of 1965, the Riga VEF plant began serial production of radios of the "VEF-Radio" brand, another name "VEF-Radio-65". The radiola consists of an 8-tube class 1 superheterodyne receiver and a 3-speed electric player III-EPU-20 or II-EPU-40. The radio receiver is designed to receive radio stations in the ranges of long, medium, short and ultra-short waves; the HF range is divided into two sub-bands. For reception in the DV and SV bands, an internal rotating ferrite antenna is used, and in VHF an internal dipole is used. The radio has smooth tone control, separately for high and low frequencies. The schematic diagram of the radio is similar to the diagram of the "Rigonda-mono" radio, with the exception of minor changes in the values of the elements in the KSDV-PCH and BP unit and differs in the external design of the case, which can be floor-standing or table-top. The speaker consists of a 4GD-4 loudspeaker. Dimensions of the radio are 740x336x320 mm, weight 21 kg. Ranges: LW 150...408 KHz. NE 525...1605 KHz. KV-1 3.95...7.4 MHz. HF-2 9.1...12 MHz and VHF 65.8...73 MHz. Sensitivity with an external antenna in the DV, SV, HF ranges is 50 µV, in the VHF range 5 µV. Sensitivity with internal magnetic antenna in the ranges DV, SV 1.5 mV/m. In the AM path, IF 465 kHz, bandwidth at signal attenuation of 6 dB in the “narrow band” position of 5 kHz, “wide band” of 11 kHz and in the “local reception” position of 15 kHz. In the FM path, IF 6.5 MHz, bandwidth 150 KHz. Selectivity along the AM path is 60 dB. The AGC provides a change in the output signal of 11 dB when the input changes by 40 dB. Maximum output power 3.5 W, reproduced audio frequency range AM path 80...6000 Hz, FM 80...12000 Hz, record recording 80...10000 Hz. Sensitivity from the pickup sockets is 200 mV. The electronic control unit is equipped with an auto switch and a microlift, and is designed to play records at speeds of 78, 45 and 33 rpm. The radio is powered from the mains. Power consumption when receiving is 60 W, and when listening to recordings is 75 W.

Manufacturer/company/country:
Riga State Electrotechnical Plant VEF

Production year: 1965

The Riga State Electrotechnical Plant "VEF" was the largest electrical enterprise in Latvia during the Soviet era. VEF radios became the face of the plant. At the international exhibitions of 1935 in Brussels and 1937 in Paris, devices under the VEF brand were awarded "Gran Prix". The plant produced such a quantity radio receivers that the local market was not able to absorb them, the export of radio receivers to other countries began.Starting in 1935, VEF opened sales offices in Tallinn, Kaunas, Helsinki, Oslo, Zurich and London. Before World War II, VEF exported 8000 radio receivers per year.

Characteristics:"VEF-Radio", another name "VEF-Radio-65". The radio receiver is designed to receive radio stations in the ranges of long, medium, short and ultra-short waves; the HF range is divided into 2 sub-bands. The radio has smooth tone control, separately for higher and lower frequencies. Weight - 22 kg. The legs add 570mm of height.
