Our opinion about Fusion FP-804: | Fusion car amplifiers aren't particularly expensive, but they don't sound particularly good either. The declared power is higher than the real one, for a budget car audio it will do. |

1. Never look at the declared power, whether it is maximum or rated. Some companies (mostly cheap ones) sharply inflate their characteristics, while some companies (mostly serious and expensive ones) on the contrary underestimate them. This is done (underestimated) in order to participate in competitions in a lower class, install more amplifiers, or more powerful ones and fit into a certain class. After all, classes in competitions are divided according to the total power declared by the manufacturer. Therefore, the lower the declared power (and the real one is greater), the more powerful the car amplifier can be installed. Consult with competent sellers.
2. As when choosing car audio, try to choose old, good and time-tested companies.
3. Don’t think that if a car amplifier is expensive, then it is good. There are times when an amplifier that is half the price will play better.
4. Also, you should not choose this device based on size and weight. It is not at all necessary that the larger and heavier the amplifier, the more powerful and better it is.
5. Choose car amplifiers for a specific car acoustics, or a specific car subwoofer, or even better, take them all at once.
6. It is advisable to take very expensive devices (20,000 rubles and above) when you are going to participate in competitions on the quality of car sound, when you have expensive car speakers, etc. For normal listening, an amplifier for 5,000-10,000 rubles (for a four-channel model) is quite sufficient.
7. On the other hand, very cheap devices (2000-3500 rubles for a four-channel model) are also not worth taking. Not only do they play poorly and are weakly powerful (no matter what power is stated), they are also not reliable.
8. If you have a powerful car subwoofer, then take car amplifiers of class D (digital). They are more powerful and consume less current, although their quality is slightly worse than that of class AB amplifiers, but this is not so important for a car subwoofer. On the contrary, it is better to take a class AB car amplifier for car speakers.
9. The power of these devices is growing every year. Therefore, newer models are more powerful than previous ones. But the quality of sound and performance, as a rule, does not improve, and sometimes for some companies it decreases every year.
10. Take only branded units. They really play much better than the "Chinese" ones, and they don't cost much more. Their reliability is also much higher.
11. When you choose this device, in most cases you will not be allowed to listen to it, much less compare it with others, unlike car radios (it takes a long time to connect, etc.). Many sellers have also not heard many different amplifiers, so they cannot give good advice. Therefore, you need to find a seller or installer who constantly listens to various car power amplifiers and consult with him.
12. Nowadays, various discounts and special offers are constantly available for car amplifiers (especially on expensive models). It’s worth looking for these, because taking them is quite profitable.
13. If your car radio does not have outputs for an additional power amplifier (for example, a standard car radio), but you still want to install it, then it doesn’t matter. There are devices with a built-in signal level converter (that is, you can feed it a signal directly from the car speakers).
14. You shouldn’t pay special attention to the presence of all kinds of additional adjustments, except when you need to make a channel or install a car amplifier on a car subwoofer. In the latter cases, a low-pass filter is needed, but, as a rule, it is found in any amplifier.
15. If you are still deciding whether to install an amplifier or not, then you need to remember that in addition to buying the amplifier itself, you also need to buy a full set of wires for it and then install it all, and the wiring to the car speakers must be completely pulled from the radio to the amplifier. On the service, such work costs 3,000 - 4,000 rubles for a four-channel option.
16. Don't look at the size of the amplifier, especially lately. Now, thanks to new technologies, quite small, but very powerful, and high-quality models have appeared. The first is, of course, subwoofer models, but there are now quite a lot of such models for car speakers, and many good companies make them, for example Alpine.
17. If your car radio does not have outputs for a power amplifier, there are models with a high-level input and you can send a signal to it directly from the speakers. If there is no such input, then there are converters that convert the speaker signal into an RCA (tulip) signal, and in this case you can connect an amplification device through this converter.
18. As mentioned above, you cannot select amplifiers based on power - some companies overestimate the power, while others (usually more serious and high-quality ones) underestimate it. So how do you determine fair power? This can be done using the built-in fuses, but you also need to look at the minimum resistance with which the amplifier can operate (the lower the resistance, the more powerful the fuse is). If, for example, it can operate at 1 ohm and the fuses are 60A, then the honest rated power will be about 600 W at 1 ohm, about 300 W at 2 ohms and about 180 W at 4 ohms (this applies to class D digital mono blocks). In addition, if this mono block is not digital (class AB), then the rated honest power may be slightly lower. In a similar way, you can calculate the power of two or four channel models.
