At what stage in the operation of an online store is it advisable to set up SEO?

We recommend investing in SEO no earlier than 3-6 months after the creation of your online store, since your site has already been indexed by search engines and has a lot of traffic - in this case, SEO will give a good effect. If you start promoting a new site with no traffic using SEO, you will have to wait several months for the first results. This is fraught with the fact that you can close your business before you get sales. SEO is cheaper than paid advertising and has a long-term effect, but it is not suitable for newly created sites.

"Main Site Mirror"

In a general sense, a mirror site is a copy of the site that is available at a different URL than the main one. And even if you have one site and one domain name for it, the site is still available at two addresses: site.ru and www.site.ru. The abbreviation www is now a relic of the past, but is used on the Internet due to the fact that a significant percentage of people continue to use this "prefix" to the address.

At its core, site.ru and www.site.ru are technically different sites, including for search engines. Search engines will index some of the pages from one domain and some from another, which makes indexing difficult and confusing for the webmaster or optimizer. Hence, it is desirable that your website be accessible from only one URL. This means that one of the mirrors will be the main one, and the other one will be the secondary one.

If your site is new and has not yet begun to be indexed in the search, we recommend that you choose a URL without the "www" prefix as the main mirror. If your site has already existed for some time, then it is important to determine which of the mirrors has more pages in the index and make it the main one.

To do this, we will use the "site:" search operator - enter a query like site:yoursite.ru into the search engine string, where yoursite.ru is the URL of your website. The search results will indicate the number of results found - that is how many pages from this mirror are in the search engine index. Exactly the same operation must be carried out for another mirror (site:www.vashsite.ru), after which it will be possible to choose which of the mirrors to designate as the main one.

As a rule, Yandex "glues" mirrors by default, and in most cases, when using the site operator, you will get the same number of results for both mirrors. With Google PS, the situation is somewhat different - basically, this PS does not "glue" domains automatically. That is why we recommend using data from the Google PS when choosing the main mirror.

To set up the main site mirror, you need to take 3 steps:

  1. Set up a 301 redirect (redirect) from the side mirror to the main one. For example, redirection from any page of the www.vashsite.ru domain to a similar page of the domain vashsite.ru. For instructions on how to set up a 301 redirect, see
  2. Specify the Host directive in the robots.txt file in the settings for Yandex PS. Example:

Real chances for transitions from search results are only those resources that could get on its first page (the so-called top 10). And this means that sooner or later there will be a squabble for a place in the Top 10, and this squabble has begun.

The main weapon in the struggle for a place in the sun was this most notorious Seo (from the English Search Engine Optimization). By and large, this is the art of getting on the first page of the Yandex or Google search results for the one you are interested in. Search engines still cannot offer any solution that allows sites that are in the search results significantly below position 10 to receive at least a drop from the number of those visitors who enter a question of interest to them in the search engine.

In fact, it turns out that there is no life beyond the Top 10. Therefore, the fight is not a joke, and any SEO optimization methods that can pull the balance in their favor are used without fail. Well, now you know. Yandex also earns by displaying contextual advertising (and Adwords).

And who orders ads from search engines? For the most part, the owners of commercial resources to attract visitors. And the whole point is that both of these businesses (contextual advertising and the provision of SEO promotion services) are competitive with respect to each other. Judge for yourself. If you are the owner of a commercial site, you can get to the first page of search engine results in two ways:

  1. Order SEO optimization and promotion service, after which to be among the ten most relevant resources in the search results (get into the Top 10 or, in other words, into the organic results)
  2. Pay money to Yandex or Google in order for your ad to be shown for the same request on the same first page of search results

If Seo technologies did not exist or they would not be so effective, then only search engines would receive all the profit, and so they lose on those clients who preferred promotion to the Top 10 organic results over contextual advertising. Your potential readers who cannot find your wonderful site through Yandex or Google will not forgive you for this. And what can I say in favor of SEO optimization and promotion? What to say? Look at the sources from which visitors come to my blog. Let's first look at the transitions per day from search engines:

No, you need to speculate a little more about how it happened that some manipulations with the site (internal Seo optimization) or setting incoming links from other resources (external) can affect the ranking. Well, it's pretty simple here.

Search engines process hundreds of millions of user requests per day and for each of them they must issue a relevant list of sites from the Internet. There is no way to do this manually, so robots (programs) perform this honorable duty. Well, a robot can always be misled. Remember how Yandex explained the work of its Matrixnet using the example of apples?

The robot cannot taste apples, but it can evaluate them by hundreds of other parameters. Apples are tasted by specially trained people - assessors. They pass their verdict after tasting a small number of apples, and the robot comprehensively studies them and, based on the accumulated data, will then be able to distinguish the wheat from the chaff. And what about Seo?

And the optimizers are just trying to find those very points of influence, by pressing on which it will be possible to improve the ranking of their project (to rise to the Top 10). If the ranking robot relies on several hundred parameters, then by influencing at least some of them, you can significantly improve the promotion of your site. This means moving towards the first place in the search results for the desired query.

Once again, I draw your attention to the fact that now there is practically no slag in the Top 10, or it does not stay there for a long time. But there are much more than 10 good sites, and therefore there is a struggle for the Top, the main weapon in which is Seo in all its glory. If you do not participate in this struggle, then you will not get a place under the sun. I think that this idea should be clear to you, at least for now.

What factors modern SEO optimizers take into account

Now, let's get down to specifics. Usually promotion methods are divided into three groups:
