The Ch3-54 electronic counting frequency meter is designed for measuring frequency, period, pulse duration, time intervals, frequency ratio, number of pulses of electrical sinusoidal and pulse signals. The frequency meter can also be used as a reference frequency generator.

Electronic counting frequency counters Ch3-54 can operate as part of an electronic information system. Information about the value of the measured quantity is provided in code 8-4-2-1 to an external recording device.

The range of measured frequencies is from 0.1Hz to 300MHz; input signal range from 100 mV to 100 V for frequencies up to 120 MHz and from 200 mV to 3 V for frequencies above 120 MHz. The frequency range when measuring the period is from 0 to 1 MHz. The measurement range of pulse durations and time intervals is from 10 -7 to 10 5 s with a resolution of 10 ns. The frequency range when measuring frequency ratio is from 10Hz - 150MHz to 0-1MHz.

The standard frequencies of the device are 0.1 Hz; 1Hz; 10Hz; 100Hz; 1kHz; 10kHz; 100kHz; 1MHz; 5MHz; 10MHz; 50MHz.

Frequency meter Ch3-54 provides operation in conjunction with replaceable units that expand the functionality of the device and the range of measured frequencies.

- Ya3Ch-72 - automatic frequency converter. Measures the frequency of sinusoidal signals from 0.3 to 7 GHz with an input signal level of 0.2 to 5 mW;
- Ya34-87 and Ya34-88 - frequency converters. They convert the frequency of continuous sinusoidal electrical signals and carrier frequencies of the IM signal from the range of 0.07-18 GHz into the range of direct counting of the Ch3-54 frequency meter with its subsequent measurement.

Purpose

The device is designed to measure frequency, period, pulse duration, time intervals, frequency ratio, number of pulses of electrical sinusoidal and pulse signals. The frequency meter can also be used as a reference frequency generator.

The range of measured frequencies is from 0.1Hz to 300MHz; input signal range from 100 mV to 100 V for frequencies up to 120 MHz and up to 200 mV to 3 V for frequencies above 120 MHz. The frequency range when measuring the period is from 0 to 1 MHz. The range of measurements of pulse duration and frequency ratio time intervals is from 10 Hz – 150 MHz to 0 – 1 MHz.

Sample frequencies of the device are 0.1; 1; 10; 100 Hz; 1; 10; 10 Hz; 1; 5; 10; 50 Hz.

The frequency meter works in conjunction with replaceable units that expand the functionality of the device and the range of measured frequencies.

Preparing for measurements

Preparing to turn on:

Turn on the BLOCK button;

Set the OPERATION switch to the FREQUENCY A position;

Set the LEVEL knob to the middle position;

Set the 150 MHz - 5 MHz button to the 150 MHz position;

Set the COUNTING TIME switch to position 1 mS;

Set the TIME MARK switch to position 0.01 S;

Set the DISPLAY TIME knob to a position convenient for counting;

Turn on the MEMORY button.

Preparation for measurements:

Set the SETUP knob to the left extreme position;

Set the NG-IM button to the released position;

Set the GAIN knob to the extreme right position;

Supply power to the device; to do this, turn on the toggle switch NETWORK ESC 43-54;

Warm up the device (the warm-up time of the device is determined by the self-heating time of the frequency meter, which is necessary for the required measurement accuracy; to check the functionality of the device, the time required to establish the operating mode is at least 15 minutes).

Checking the functionality of the device:

Read out the frequency value of the master oscillator (local oscillator) from the digital display of the frequency meter, which should be no more than 69.9 MHz (YAZCH-87) or 164.9 MHz (YAZCH-88);

Adjust the frequency of the master oscillator (heterodyne) by rotating the SETUP knob from the initial position clockwise to the extreme right position, while the frequency value on the digital display of the frequency meter should gradually increase, reaching a value of at least 140.1 MHz (YAZCH-87) or 185.1 MHz (YAZCH-88);

Use the SETUP knob to set the frequency value of the master oscillator (local oscillator) on the digital display of the frequency meter to 100 MHz (YAZCH-87) or 180 MHz (YAZCH-88);

On the HARMONIC NUMBER switch, sequentially set the positions “01, 02, 03 ... 09, 10, 20 ... 90, 00”, while the readings on the frequency meter display should be respectively 100, 200, 300 ... 900 MHz, 1 , 2 ... 9, 10 GHz (YAZCH-87) or 180, 360, 540... 1620, 1800, 3600 ... 16200, 18000 MHz (YAZCH-88);

Use the SETUP knob to set the frequency of the master oscillator (local oscillator) to 69.9 MHz (YAZCH-87) or 164.9 MHz (YAZCH-88);

First return the HARMONIC NUMBER switch to position “0.1”;

Use the DEVICE ZERO knob to set the zero on the IND indicator device. SETTINGS;

Set the GAIN knob to the extreme left position, while the IND indicator goes to zero. SETTINGS should be no more than ±20 µA;

Connect the INPUT connector of the device to the dBV OUTPUT connector of the G4-107 signal generator using the NEE4.851.350-08 cable taken from the device spare parts kit;

Set the attenuator of the G4-107 signal generator to position “20”;

Set the frequency to 360 MHz on the scale of the G4-107 signal generator;

Set the GAIN knob of the device to the extreme right position;

Turn on the NETWORK toggle switch and the ON, dBV and NG buttons of the G4-107 signal generator and warm it up in accordance with the instructions of its technical description and operating instructions;

Using the SETUP knob of the device, adjust the frequency of the master oscillator (local oscillator) from the initial position clockwise until the synchronization mode is obtained, as indicated by the deviation of the indicator of the IND indicator device. SETTINGS left and right simultaneously with rotating the SETUP knob in both directions, while the pointer deviation must be at least 15 µA in both directions;

Turn on the INTERNAL buttons. and IM signal generator G4-107;

Set the NG-IM button of the device to the MI position (press the button);

Disable the NG button of the G4-107 signal generator;

OUT connector ON OSCIL. connect the device with cable EE4.850.597-21 (included in spare parts kit 43-54) with the input of the S1-65 oscilloscope;

Turn on the C1-65 oscilloscope and prepare it for operation in accordance with the instructions in its technical description and operating instructions;

Using the SETUP knob of the device, adjust the frequency of the master oscillator (local oscillator) from the initial position clockwise until zero beats are obtained, as evidenced by the maximum deviation of the indicator of the IND indicator device. SETTINGS to the right (it must be at least 15 µA). Zero beats can be simultaneously observed on the screen of the S1-65 oscilloscope.
