Computers and modern gadgets

Hello everyone, today we will look at a utility that will help us update bios asus on a computer or laptop. The utility is called asus drivers update utility or asus update utility. It is absolutely free and easy to use, I think it’s no secret that in most cases, the latest firmware of your BIOS is the key to stable operation of your hardware. The method described below can be called a method for the lazy and the simplest that exists.

Previously, I already told you how to update a server motherboard using the Afudos utility. But the afudos utility may cause rejection for the average user since it requires DOS and the command line; it is much more pleasant to update the BIOS through the GUI interface of the program from Windows. So let's get to the point. There are at least 3 methods for updating the firmware:

  • standard BIOS interface
  • ASUS Live Update Utility

Why you need to update the BIOS, the most important thing is to support new equipment and improve support for existing equipment, and correct errors.

Update bios asus from windows using utilities. You can download them from the official website or from the Yandex disk below.

At the moment, the current version of ASUS Live Update Utility 3.37 and asus update utility 7.10.05

Launch ASUS Live Update Utility, you will see a program window where you need to click Check update.

Your PC will begin scanning and searching for the latest updates for your ASUS board.

Let's also look at ASUS Update Utility, the program allows you to update the BIOS from a previously downloaded new firmware file.

You can also flash the Asus BIOS using the usual method via the BIOS interface, see how to do this below.

Due to the inability to install Windows 7 on the old 401 version of the BIOS, I updated the BIOS from version 401 to version 506.
I downloaded the latest version from off. Site

In the settings of the “new” BIOS, it is possible to change Version OS ___ Windows 8 to Windows 7.
Now let's move on to the update itself. To do this, we need a partition on a hard drive or USB Flash drive with the NTFS or FAT file system and, of course, the update file itself, previously extracted from the archive. I advise you to put the update file where it will be easy to find.
So, having prepared everything, it is necessary to carry out all safety measures:
- The laptop battery must be charged.
- Just in case, also put your laptop on charge.
- If you are going to update the BIOS from a flash drive, then at least tape it with tape, but if the flash drive is dismantled (comes off), then take the laptop again to the service center.
After entering the BIOS, go to the "Advanced" tab. We select “Start Easy Flash” and get into a certain file manager: After a short search, we find the update file and press on it.
You need to download the UltraISO program. It is not necessary to download or buy the full version of the program. For subsequent operations, a trial version will be sufficient. After downloading the program, you need to take the following steps:
Connect the flash drive to your computer.
Transfer the important data stored on the flash drive to any other storage medium, as the files will be lost during the installation of the images.
Launch the downloaded UltraISO program.
Open the desired iso file, or create a disk image (iso) in parallel and open it using UltraISO.
Select the menu item called "Boot".
Select the "Burn Hard Disk Image" function
A window will appear where you will need to check the information written there in order to write the iso image to the flash drive.
The name of the flash drive must be selected in the "Disk Drive" field.
The "Image file" field displays the selected path to the location where the iso file is stored.
You can choose any "recording method".
Now everything is ready. Give the command "Record".
Now you need to wait a little.
All iso files that you were going to write to the flash drive have been successfully transferred there.
There is a problem with the MBR and GPT hard disk format
We begin installing Windows 7. When a window appears, selecting the drives where to install Windows. Press the key combination Shift+F10 to open the Command Prompt.
Enter the commands as shown in the screenshot above.
1)diskpart
2) list disk
Find the drive or array where you want to install the OS. If there is only one in the system, then it will always be assigned the number 0.
If you are not sure that you can select the disk/array correctly, then turn off the system, disconnect all disks except the one on which you want to install the operating system. Otherwise, if you select the wrong disk, all data on it will be lost.
Then boot from the bootable media again in UEFI mode.
Let's assume that the disk we need is number 0.
Then you need to enter the commands:
3) select disk 0
4) clean all data from the hard drive will be erased. We will get unallocated space.
Now close all windows and reboot the system (in UEFI mode).
Continuation
Start the installation, go to the disk configuration screen and Create a partition on an unallocated space of 120000 MB (120GB). The installer will automatically create all the necessary partitions. On the remaining space, also click Create and Agree. Then select 120 GB and click Next.

Leisure and work of a modern person can no longer be imagined without the use of a laptop. The need for repairs, changes in usual settings and updates often arises among users. Sometimes it is important to know how to update the BIOS on a laptop. BIOS is a key information input/output system that ensures loading operating systems (Windows, Linux, IOS). Flashing the BIOS on a laptop removes errors or enables additional support for memory and processors.

Why do you need a BIOS update?

Before you update the BIOS on your laptop, you need to find out why the program update is required. There are several factors:

  1. No support for new software. The old settings do not suit the new tools, so the laptop needs to change the BIOS version.
  2. When you install new programs, the old software “conflicts” with them.
  3. The installed settings are damaged by viruses.
  4. Information on how to flash the BIOS will be needed when the flash drive is not read as a boot device.
  5. The laptop freezes when you turn on some programs or their options and reboots itself.
  6. The motherboard does not detect a high-capacity hard drive or a video adapter (video card) with a high number of gigabytes.
  7. The stability of the laptop is unstable, the computer works poorly due to minor software errors.
  8. The manufacturer has installed only a basic set of functions, which is not enough for the computer’s operating power.

How to enter BIOS on a laptop

The BIOS launches immediately when you turn on the laptop. If the laptop model is older, then letters will be visible in the upper left corner of the display in the first seconds of loading. Next, the operating system starts and control of the laptop passes to it. To find out how to open the BIOS on a laptop, first of all, find out the manufacturer and model of the laptop. To enter the BIOS of the most popular brands of laptops, you need to turn on or restart the laptop, then follow to:

  1. HP (HP) – hold down the F2 or Escape key when starting the laptop.
  2. ASUS (Asus) – press the F2 key when turning on.
  3. ACER (Acer) - press the combination F2-Del or Ctrl-Alt-Esc. You can also turn it on using the F1 key.
  4. DELL (Dell) – Del, F2, rarely Ctrl-Alt-Enter.
  5. SAMSUNG (Samsung) – at the moment of turning on, press the Pause button. A text will appear, in it you need to find “Press F2 to enter setup”. The F2 key is replaced by F1, F8, F10, F11, F12, Esc by selecting the desired one. To exit, press Enter. The next step is to search for the markings of the laptop motherboard. To find it out, follow “Start – Hardware – Device Manager – Configurations”. We copy the markings onto a sheet of paper and enter them in the browser. If desired, add additional “to enter setup/BIOS”.
  6. LENOVO (Lenovo) - classic Del or F2 keys.
  7. TOSHIBA (Toshiba) - it is worth considering the device model. For older Toshiba models, with the laptop turned off, hold down the F2 button, then, while holding the key, turn on the laptop. New devices are turned on according to the instructions “Login to Windows - Start - Preinstalled programs - Bios System” (sometimes the name is different, but it always contains the word BIOS).

Ways to update the motherboard BIOS on a laptop

Installing a BIOS software update differs in methods depending on the type of motherboard. Before installing the firmware, you need to study the instructions for the board to take into account all the details specified by the manufacturer. Upgrade options:

  1. Windows proprietary utility. The advantageous way to avoid errors if it is not clear how to reinstall the BIOS. Modern motherboards (Asus, MSI, Gygabyte) preferably accept this utility.
  2. Built-in BIOS settings. The option is considered suitable when the user is confident that the installed BIOS version is absolutely correct. The program for updating the BIOS (Q-Flash, EZ Flash, Utility) is written to a flash drive and launched.
  3. DOS mode. This firmware option is for experienced users; for beginners it will be difficult to update the I/O program using this method. The mode requires creating a bootable flash drive with DOS and a new version of the BIOS program. Serious errors may appear during installation.
