Nintendo will soon release Pokemon GO on Windows Phone and Windows 10 Mobile. This, however, was announced not by Nintendo itself, but by the Portuguese division of Microsoft.
The Microsoft representative was brief, he only said that Poemon GO will soon appear on Windows Phone, but did not specify when or where he got this information from. Microsoft later updated its response to say that it had received many requests for the game to appear in the Windows Store and was currently considering options on how to best accommodate those requests. Of course, Nintendo and Microsoft could port Pokemon GO to iOS using a special tool, but in this case, the already not very stable game will work with errors (of which there are already many in its versions on iOS and Android). This means that Nintendo needs to devote resources to focused development of a Pokemon GO variant for Windows Phone. The company probably has such resources, because in just three weeks since the release of Pokemon GO, Nintendo's market capitalization has more than doubled - to almost fifty billion dollars.
Many outside companies are trying to cash in on the success of Pokemon GO. So, for example, various accessories vaguely related to the game have already appeared in online stores. The most interesting is the 5300 mAh external battery, which looks like a Pokeball that players throw at Pokemon to catch them. Unfortunately, this power bank is overpriced at $40, but you can expect cheaper alternatives with stronger batteries to appear soon. Power banks are a really important thing for Pokemon GO players, because this game is quite power-hungry: you have to keep the screen, GPS, mobile Internet on and constantly maintain contact with Nintendo servers. For half the price in China, you can buy a 20,000 mAh portable battery, which is enough to play Pokemon GO for a whole day (or even several).
Nintendo also seems to be very pleased with the success of Pokemon GO and will try to keep it around for as long as possible. Yesterday it became known that the company has agreed with the Japanese film studio Legendary Pictures on a full-length film adaptation of the franchise. True, the film will not be about Pokemon GO, but about one of the Pokemon, even its name is known - “The Great Detective Pikachu: The Birth of a New Duo.” Production of the cartoon will begin in 2017, and Universal Pictures will handle its distribution outside Japan. According to rumors, last week Nintendo announced a competition for the right to film the story about Pikachu, and the studio offered it the most favorable conditions from a financial point of view. The cartoon will obviously be filmed at a fast pace - in order to release it in time before the popularity of Pokemon GO declines.
The trailer for this film, by the way, was shot back in January 2016. Judging by it, the film will be partly fictional, partly animated.
By the way, a rather interesting petition has been launched on the Change.org website, in which people vote for Danny DeVito to be entrusted with the voice acting of the main character in the version of “Detective Pikachu” for English-speaking countries.
Meanwhile, the excitement around Pokemon GO is gaining truly unimaginable proportions. In Russia, this game is not yet officially available in the Android and iOS markets, but this does not prevent Russians from installing it from unofficial sources and successfully catching Pokemon. The mobile operator MTS has estimated that in Moscow and the Moscow region more than one hundred and eighty thousand subscribers of the “Big Three” (MTS, Beeline and Megafon) are already playing Pokemon GO. MTS discloses detailed information about players in its press release:
Every day the number of users increases by 30-35% for all Big Three operators. Peak hours for active sessions are between 8:00 and 10:00 am, and from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm. On average, MTS subscribers download 5 MB of traffic during an hour of play. Average traffic per user per day does not exceed 30 MB.
Over the past seven days, the MTS contact center has received more than two thousand calls asking for advice on how to install the game on Apple smartphones and about 10 requests regarding the locations of “pocket monsters.”
MTS does not have data on the number of players in Pokemon GO throughout Russia - according to the company, this requires downloading and processing too much data. In addition, some of the data from other operators is closed and is not so easy to obtain.
Pokemon GO was developed by Niantic and released on July 6, 2016 by The Pokemon Company, a division of Nintendo. The game is currently available in more than 30 countries, including the USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and some European countries. Pokemon GO has been in development since 2014, and the idea for such a game came from Google as a prank for users on the eve of April 1st. The launch of Pokemon GO in Russia was supposed to take place before July 17, but was postponed by the local Nintendo office indefinitely.
Users of the Windows Phone platform will obviously be very happy about the release of this article, because... the most popular Pokemon Go application is still not available on their devices. Below we will describe how you can try to install Pokemon on WP devices, however, the method is still experimental and will not help all users, but the attempt is not torture, as they say. To save time for some users, it is worth noting right away that if Windows 8.1 or better is installed on the device, then it’s not even worth trying to install the application. The reason for this is that these instructions can only help those WP users whose device runs Windows 10 Mobile, version 10536 and not higher.

We take the device and go to the device settings. You can do this by moving the curtain, and then find and click on the “All parameters” item. Next, in the settings, look for the “Update and Security” item, and then “For Developers” and, as you might guess, you need to activate the developer mode.
We confirm all operations, and then you need to activate “device detection”. After enabling detection, a “link” button will appear just below this item, so you need to click it. Having completed all the procedures, a window with a code will appear on the user’s screen, which must either be remembered or written down; the code will also be needed to enter it into the application.
Next, download a tricky program called ApkToWindows10Mobile, you need to download the program installer to your computer. We install the program and connect our phone to it using a USB cable, as well as the code that was received earlier. To do this, open the program, connect the USB cable to the phone and computer, enter the code and press the “Connectar” button.
After all the steps described above, you need to download the latest version of the .apk file with the application from the site and transfer the downloaded file to the window called “Arrastre el APK e instale”, then click the “installar” button. After the installation process is completed, go into my phone and try to launch the game.
It is worth recalling once again that the installation instructions described above do not work on all devices, the method is still experimental, and also only works for devices with a certain Windows and its version. However, everyone else should not be upset, most likely the game will still be released to official access, although it is not known when.
In the meantime, you'll have to be happy with what you have. We remind you that all of the above is relevant only for WP versions no later than 10536. In subsequent versions, support for Astoria (android emulation) has been removed and will not work.
